WASHINGTON — The latest advancements in emergency medicine are on full display in the nation’s capital. Demonstrations by more than 30 companies of cutting-edge technologies and devices are being featured this week in Washington, D.C., during the ACEP17 Scientific Assembly, where more than 6,000 emergency medicine professionals are discussing the preeminent issues in emergency medicine and participating in educational courses. 2017 innovatED is presented by Allergan and Janssen Cardiovascular.
“Emergency medicine is always forward-thinking when it comes to developing better, more advanced, more efficient ways to serve and treat the millions of patients we see each year,” says ACEP President Paul Kivela, MD, FACEP. “innovatED is the place to see the latest and greatest technology coming soon to an emergency department near you.”
This year’s exhibit will showcase virtual reality and augmented reality demonstrations and show how it is being applied to clinical training. Media are invited to participate in these demonstrations. If you’re interested, please email Mike Baldyga at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The 2017 innovatED will also feature an area focused on advancements in behavioral and psychiatric emergencies. Resembling a hospital-based emergency psychiatry stabilization unit, this area will showcase safe ways to stabilize mentally ill patients and how emergency physicians can develop long-term treatment plans for psychiatric patients.
In addition to the demonstrations of technology, we will also feature the incubatED pitch event competition! Startup companies from around the country will be here for a chance to pitch their ideas to a panel of healthcare and technology professionals, much like ABC’s hit show, Shark Tank. The Medical Device Pitch Event will take place on Monday, October 30th (12pm-12:30 pm). The Digital Health Pitch Event will take place on Tuesday, October 31st (12-12:30 pm). Both pitch events will be in the Innovation Spotlight Theater.
Reporters can obtain credentials and access to the Exhibit Hall by coming to the ACEP Media Relations Office at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center at WWC 141, on the street level of the convention center, beginning Saturday, October 28th. innovatED is open throughout ACEP17, from 9:30am to 3:30 pm Sunday, October 29th through Tuesday, October 31st.
